Job Summary

Minds Matter is seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical billing and coding, possess knowledge of medical terminology, possess great customer service skills, and be committed to ensuring timely and accurate billing processes to support the Minds Matter mission and vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Billing and Payment Processing
  • Post payments from consumers and insurance providers accurately and promptly.
  • Serve as a backup for submitting billing claims to insurance providers and managed care organizations (MCOs).
  • Research and resolve denied claims, including initiating appeals as necessary.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of billing transactions and claim statuses.
  • Reporting and Documentation
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets with detailed claim information and notes for monthly meetings with MCO representatives.
  • Run accounts receivable (AR) reports, identify discrepancies, and follow up to ensure outstanding balances are addressed.
  •  Collaborate with the finance team to prepare reports for internal use and external stakeholders as needed.
  •  Communicate effectively with MCOs, insurance providers, and consumers regarding billing inquiries or discrepancies.
  •  Participate in regular team meetings to provide updates on billing processes and claim statuses.
  •  Assist with implementing improvements to billing workflows and systems to enhance efficiency.

Qualifications

•    Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
•    Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or a related role.
•    Technical Skills: Familiarity with medical billing software and systems; proficiency in Microsoft Excel is             essential.
 Strong analytical skills and ability to research and resolve complex billing issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with office management software (e.g., QuickBooks, Asana).
